The Best Things to Do in El Gouna

The beach may be the reason you start considering El Gouna, but it should not be the only thing you experience once you arrive.
For Turkish travellers used to coastal destinations with restaurants, beach clubs and evening atmosphere, El Gouna offers a similar rhythm with a very different Red Sea setting.
1. Spend an evening around Abu Tig Marina
Arrive before sunset rather than going directly to dinner.
Walk beside the water, stop for a drink and choose from the restaurants and cafés around the marina. It is the clearest introduction to El Gouna’s social side.
2. Try kitesurfing
El Gouna is known for specialist kitesurfing centres serving beginners and experienced riders.
First-time visitors can book professional lessons and equipment instead of arriving with their own kit. Confirm the wind and water conditions with the centre when booking.
3. Play golf
Golf courses surrounded by lagoons and desert landscapes offer a very different experience from Türkiye’s better-known coastal courses.
Book a morning tee time during hotter periods, then leave the afternoon free for the pool, beach or spa.
4. Explore the Red Sea
Book a snorkelling or diving experience to see beneath the surface.
Travellers who prefer to remain above water can choose sailing, paddleboarding, wakeboarding or a boat excursion. El Gouna’s official summer activity guide lists diving, snorkelling, kitesurfing, sailing, paddleboarding and boat trips among the destination’s main experiences.
5. Visit a beach club
A beach-club day will feel familiar to many Turkish travellers, but the lagoon and Red Sea setting changes the experience.
Choose whether you want a quiet day, a more social atmosphere or easy access to food, music and activities.
6. See the desert
A desert trip adds a completely different landscape to a coastal holiday. Depending on the operator, experiences can include riding, motor activities or sunset excursions.
7. Do less
Book a massage, take a lagoon ride, enjoy a long lunch or spend an afternoon by the pool.
El Gouna works best when activity and relaxation are mixed rather than treated as competing holiday styles.
