El Gouna offers Turkish travellers something familiar enough to feel easy, but different enough to feel like a real escape.

There are beach clubs, marina dinners, stylish hotels and long evenings beside the water. But unlike Bodrum, Çeşme or Antalya, the setting is the Egyptian Red Sea, with lagoons, desert landscapes, coral reefs and year-round outdoor experiences.

Where is El Gouna?

El Gouna is a purpose-built coastal town north of Hurghada. Most international visitors arrive through Hurghada International Airport, followed by a road transfer of approximately 30 minutes.

Currently there is direct travel from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen to Hurghada, although routes and schedules should always be checked for the selected dates.

Is El Gouna one resort?

No. This is one of the most important things to understand before booking.

El Gouna contains multiple hotels, marinas, beaches, restaurants, activity centres and neighbourhoods. You can stay in one hotel while eating, swimming or spending the evening elsewhere.

That makes the hotel decision partly about location and partly about holiday style.

  • Choose a marina hotel for easy access to restaurants and evening atmosphere.

  • Choose an adults-only hotel for a more lifestyle-led experience.

  • Choose a golf hotel for course access and open surroundings.

  • Choose a beachfront hotel for direct access to the Red Sea.

  • Choose a family hotel for pools, children’s facilities and flexible dining.

What should you do on a first visit?

A balanced first trip should include:

  • One full beach or pool day

  • One evening around Abu Tig Marina

  • One Red Sea activity

  • One meal outside the hotel

  • One slower afternoon with no fixed plan

Popular options include golf, kitesurfing, diving, snorkelling, sailing, paddleboarding and desert experiences.

What should Turkish travellers check before booking?

Confirm your current flight options, airport transfer, passport and visa requirements, hotel meal plan and any activities that need advance reservations.

Turkish nationals can obtain a single-entry tourist visa on arrival at the airport in Egypt, for a cost of $30. The process is straightforward and typically takes only a few minutes. Eligibility and entry conditions should be checked against official guidance before travel.
